Nebraska University Unveils Statue Honoring Football Legend Mike Rozier
LINCOLN, NE – June 29, 2025 — In a moment rich with history, emotion, and pride, the University of Nebraska proudly unveiled a long-awaited tribute to one of its most iconic figures in college football — Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier. The bronze statue, now standing tall and eternal outside Memorial Stadium, captures more than just a man; it immortalizes a legacy steeped in excellence, grit, and Husker glory.
The ceremony, held under clear blue skies and before a sea of red-clad fans, marked a triumphant culmination of years of alumni petitions, fan-led campaigns, and quiet lobbying from former teammates and coaches. A marching band blared the fight song as Rozier, now 64, stood beside his likeness — a life-size image of him mid-stride, ball tucked under one arm, face frozen in the determined glare that once terrorized Big Eight defenses.
