In Memoriam: Jackson Bailey (2003–2025)
The Prairie View A&M University community is mourning the loss of Jackson “Jacks” Bailey, a promising young athlete who tragically passed away at the age of 22. A defensive lineman for the Panthers during the 2023–24 season, Jackson’s impact was felt both on and off the field.
Early Life and Football Journey
Born on January 6, 2003, in Dallas, Texas, Jackson was the son of Debbie and Bryon Bailey and had two siblings, Taylor and Kebron. Standing 6’3″ and weighing 235 pounds, he was known for his natural speed and strong football IQ. In high school, he was part of a team that lost only three games, with his standout performance including 10 tackles, a touchdown, and a fumble recovery.
At Prairie View A&M
Jackson joined the Prairie View A&M Panthers for the 2023–24 season. Although he did not appear in any official games, his presence in the locker room and on campus was significant. He was also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. – Zeta Beta Chapter, embodying brotherhood, resilience, and purpose.
Personal Interests and Aspirations
Outside of football, Jackson had a variety of interests. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially during Christmas, and had a passion for cooking, playing video games, and playing the piano—a hidden talent most didn’t expect. His favorite professional athlete was Micah Parsons, and he dreamed of one day playing in the NFL or beginning a career as a physical therapist, using his love of sports to help others heal.
Legacy
Jackson’s legacy is one of determination, kindness, and a love for the game. His favorite words to live by were: “God got me.” These words guided his path on and off the field. The Prairie View A&M Department of Athletics extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, teammates, and fraternity brothers of Jackson “Jacks” Bailey, a cherished member of the Panther football program and the PVAMU community.
As the community reflects on Jackson’s life, they are reminded of the impact one individual can have on those around them. His spirit and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
