Leeds United are now ahead of Aston Villa in the race to sign Japanese midfielder Hidemasa Morita. After enjoying a strong season with Sporting CP in the Primeira Liga, Morita has attracted interest from several big clubs across Europe.
Leeds are believed to have made good progress in discussions and could soon complete the deal. Although both Leeds and Aston Villa have been monitoring the midfielder, Leeds currently appear to be in a stronger position because of their good relationship with Sporting Lisbon and their readiness to meet the club’s financial demands.
Morita’s impressive displays this season have made him one of the top midfield targets for clubs hoping to strengthen their squads before the new campaign begins.
