Nottingham Forest have officially confirmed their retained list as manager Vitor Pereira prepares for a significant summer of transition. After a season that saw the Reds battle for European qualification and reach the Europa League quarter-finals, the club is now parting ways with several high-profile names to facilitate a major squad rebuild.
The headline departure is an out-of-contract mainstay who has been a central figure in the club’s defensive unit, while speculation continues to swirl around a potential £100m “hijack” deal for star midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The Full Exit List: Summer 2026
As the Reds prepare for another key transfer window, several senior players are set to move on when their contracts officially expire on June 30:
• Willy Boly: The biggest name on the release list. The veteran centre-back, who has been a pillar of strength since the club’s return to the Premier League, will depart as a free agent at age 35. His exit marks the end of a reliable era in the Forest backline.
• Elliot Anderson: While technically under contract, a blockbuster summer move to Manchester City is reportedly “a done deal,” with rival clubs like Manchester United also plotting late hijacks. After a sensational breakthrough period at the City Ground, his departure would represent a massive financial windfall for the club.
• Morgan Gibbs-White: The star playmaker’s future remains uncertain, with heavy interest from Manchester United. Following his impressive performances under Pereira, many expect the former record signing to move on if a massive valuation is met.
• Jota Silva: The winger is actively seeking a new challenge after spending time away on loan at Besiktas. Having not featured regularly in Pereira’s plans, his permanent exit is expected this summer.
• Joe Gardner: The young talent returns to the City Ground following the conclusion of his loan spell at Mansfield Town, where he was listed as a departing loanee.
• Wayne Hennessey: The experienced Welsh international goalkeeper has officially been listed as retired, bringing a close to his lengthy career at the top level.
The Summer Outlook
The Reds are already moving quickly to secure replacements. Reports suggest a £13m move is underway for former Derby County academy ace Archie Brown to bolster the left-back position. Additionally, Forest are in talks to make Lorenzo Lucca’s move from Napoli permanent and have been linked with a €20m move for Senegalese defender Ousmane Diao.
Nottingham Forest would like to thank all departing players for their service and wishes them the very best in their future endeavors.
