DERBY — In a direct and honest interview today, Patrick Agyemang has expressed his frustration with his current situation. Despite a fantastic run of form in the Championship, where he has scored 10 goals for Derby County this season, the 25-year-old striker says he feels “disrespected” by the lack of opportunities with the USMNT under Mauricio Pochettino.
Agyemang, who joined Derby from Charlotte FC for a record fee in 2025, has been one of the most physically dominant strikers in England this year. However, he has recently been left out of key training camps. “I am playing in one of the toughest leagues in the world and I am scoring goals,” Agyemang said. “But I still feel like I have to prove I belong. It’s hard when you see others getting called up while you are delivering every week. I feel disrespected because I’ve shown I can do it at this level.”
The striker also hinted at feeling undervalued during his final days in MLS before his move to Europe. “At Charlotte, I gave everything, but sometimes it felt like people were waiting for me to fail because I came from the SuperDraft,” he added. “I feel betrayed when my hard work is ignored. I want to be valued for the player I am today, not where I started.”
Derby County fans are firmly behind their number 7, with many calling him the “engine” of their promotion push. As the 2026 World Cup approaches, the pressure is on the USMNT coaching staff to recognize his form.
“I am a Derby player and my focus is on getting this club to the Premier League,” Agyemang concluded. “But I know what I am worth. If my goals aren’t enough to earn respect, I will just keep scoring until they can’t ignore me anymore.” 🛡️⚽
