Texas A&M Lands 4-Star Linebacker Daquives Beck, Strengthening Defensive Core
Texas A&M made a significant addition to its 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star linebacker Daquives Beck. A highly-touted prospect out of Carthage High School in Texas, Beck brings size, speed, and elite-level production to an Aggies defense looking to rebuild under head coach Mike Elko.
Beck, listed at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, is one of the top linebackers in the country. Ranked as the No. 9 linebacker nationally and among the top 25 players in Texas, he made a name for himself during his junior season, recording over 100 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and five sacks. He also added two defensive touchdowns and was named Defensive MVP in the Class 4A Division II state championship game—helping lead Carthage to a state title.
His combination of speed, awareness, and physicality has drawn attention from some of the biggest programs in the country. Beck received offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Arkansas, and Ole Miss, among others. However, a mid-June official visit to College Station made all the difference.
Following that visit, Beck committed to Texas A&M on July 1, citing the strong relationships he built with the coaching staff, especially head coach Mike Elko, defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, and assistant coach Trooper Taylor. Beck stated he felt valued and saw College Station as the best fit for both his development and future goals.
“The coaches showed real belief in me,” Beck said. “They didn’t just recruit me—they made me feel like family.”
With his decision, Beck becomes the second linebacker in A&M’s 2026 recruiting class, joining fellow four-star recruit Storm Miller from Ohio. The class now boasts 22 commitments, 18 of whom are rated four stars, solidifying the Aggies as one of the top recruiting teams in the nation—currently ranked inside the top 5 nationally.
Beck’s versatility is expected to be a major asset for A&M’s evolving defensive scheme. Whether lined up as an off-ball linebacker or coming off the edge, he has the athletic traits and football IQ to make an immediate impact once on campus. His commitment also speaks volumes about the direction of the program under Elko, who continues to build a roster ready to compete in the SEC.
For Texas A&M, Beck’s pledge is more than just a boost to the linebacker room—it’s a statement. It shows that top-tier in-state talent still views A&M as a premier destination. And for Beck, it marks the next step in a promising football journey.
