Merritt Beason, former captain of the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team, has been selected as one of 18 elite athletes to train with the U.S. U23 Women’s National Team in preparation for the 2025 NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup. The tournament, scheduled for July 25 to August 2 in Mexico, will feature the top emerging talent from North, Central America, and the Caribbean. From the training group, only 12 will ultimately earn a spot on the travel roster — and Beason is a strong contender to lead the charge.
Beason’s selection reflects her remarkable leadership, athleticism, and consistent performance throughout her collegiate career. A 6’3” outside hitter originally from Gardendale, Alabama, she transferred to Nebraska from Florida and quickly established herself as a key player for the Huskers. Known for her explosive attacks, court awareness, and fierce competitive spirit, she earned All-Big Ten and AVCA All-American honors, helping Nebraska to multiple Final Four appearances.
As captain, Beason brought a unique blend of poise and intensity to a program steeped in volleyball tradition.
