Nick Dorn Have Commits to Indiana Hoosiers After Standout Visit
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — In a move that sends ripples across the college basketball transfer landscape, standout Elon guard Nick Dorn Have has officially committed to the Indiana Hoosiers after a high-profile visit to Bloomington this past weekend.
Dorn Have, a 6-foot-5 junior with an explosive first step and a silky shooting stroke, entered the transfer portal earlier this month after a breakout season with the Phoenix. Averaging 16.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, Dorn Have was one of the most sought-after mid-major prospects available. He earned All-CAA Second Team honors and became known for his defensive versatility, often guarding four positions throughout the season.
But it was Indiana’s historic Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, its rabid fanbase, and Coach Darian DeVries vision that sealed the deal.
“From the moment I stepped into that arena and felt the energy, I knew this was home,” Dorn Have said during a press conference held on IU’s campus. “Coach DeVries laid out a plan that wasn’t just about basketball—it was about becoming a complete man and a complete player. I felt seen. I felt wanted. That mattered.”
The visit was nothing short of theatrical. Dorn Have was greeted by a full student section at Cook Hall during a closed scrimmage, and sources say the coaching staff curated film sessions to show how his skill set fit perfectly into Indiana’s modernized offense. Former Hoosier stars, including NBA veteran Victor Oladipo, sent messages of support.
Assistant Coach Yasir Rosemond led the recruitment push. Known for his work with perimeter talent, Rosemond emphasized Dorn Have’s potential role as a primary ball-handler in certain sets—something the Elon product rarely got to showcase.
“Nick is a special talent,” said Coach DeVries in a statement. “His ability to defend and score, his poise in big moments—we believe he’s ready to contribute right away in the Big Ten.”
Indiana, coming off a 21–12 season and a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament, has been aggressive in the transfer portal, seeking to add depth and versatility to its backcourt. Dorn Have joins a Hoosiers team with rising sophomore Jaedon Tracey and veteran combo guard Trey Galloway, setting the stage for one of the most dynamic guard rotations in the conference.
Dorn Have’s decision caught the attention of national recruiting analysts, with 247Sports’ Evan Daniels calling it “one of the most impactful mid-major to high-major transfers of the cycle.”
Back at Elon, Dorn Have’s departure is bittersweet. “Nick was a leader for us,” said Elon Head Coach Billy Taylor. “We’re proud of him and wish him nothing but success at Indiana. He deserves this opportunity.”
