Rain, snow, and colder temperatures are all on the table this weekend for Michigan. As we close out 2023, things are going to get a bit more wintry, but no major storm systems are on the way.
Scattered showers are going to linger around during the day on Friday, but mainly in southern and central Lower Michigan. Outside of those areas, Friday is going to be a cloudy, drier day to start, but some breaks in the clouds are going to give us some sunshine, particularly in Northern Michigan. Temperatures in Lower Michigan are going to stick to the upper 30s to low 40s, while the Upper Peninsula will see highs in the mid to upper 30s.
By Friday evening, the clouds will start to clear out further south, giving the rest of us partly cloudy skies as we head into the nighttime hours. Rain showers will also dissipate by then, so conditions will be dry. Low temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s across Lower Michigan, and into the low to mid 20s across the Upper Peninsula.
New Year’s Eve will see the return of snow chances across Michigan. Scattered snow showers are going to be around throughout the day in both southern and Northern Michigan, though will be more numerous in the Upper Peninsula. High temperatures on Sunday will be slightly cooler than Saturday, with highs in the low to mid 30s into the Lower Peninsula and in the mid to upper 20s in the Upper Peninsula.
